Between Spices and Skylines

Between Spices and Skylines is a reflection of my own experience growing up South Asian in spaces that often didn’t speak my language, both literally and emotionally. It captures the quiet work of translating grief, pride, and memory across generations. For AAPI Heritage Month, I wanted to honour the in-between: the small embarrassments, the inherited dreams, the beauty in never fully fitting in. This poem is my way of saying I carry it all. It’s a reflection of the bridge I walk between cultures; never half, always whole.
