The Erosion Of Artistic Identity
Exploring artistic comparison, compromise and authenticity within the realm of music.

The Tale of 27
Punctuated at the age of 27, the lives of Hendrix, Cobain, and Winehouse were no doubt influential to pop culture, but arguably more so as they were granted VIP access to the infamous 27 Club. Those with underlying mental illnesses, severe drug habits, and a rapid claim to fame need not apply.

The Map to Finding Your Genre
Everyone has a distinct combination of artists and tastes that form their listening habits. It’s a fascinating insight into you as a person - not to say that it's as black and white as folk fans must live on a farm and heavy metal fans must wear black eyeliner - but I believe there’s still something to be said of the musical cloud you surround yourself with.

Albums of the Year (Round II)
I am a person who loves to complain and express my opinions loudly, so I figured I should share with you my favourite albums of 2021.

AMEN BREAK
Back in the early days of mixing and breakbeat music, DJs would sample a number of records to build a song. With melodic and rhythmic elements coming from different records, these early DJs stitched together with incredible music, but one drum break, in particular, has made an outstanding impact on the music we listen to today.

MAINTAINING PASSION
When you make more of what you love, you discover new ways to make it interesting for yourself. The boredom of quarantine made it necessary for me to make progress in my music.

MUSICAL TIME CAPSULES
If you remember the big jump you went off, you also remember the music soaring to match the apex of your flight. However, this doesn’t exist as just a memory. I can play the game whenever I want to relive these experiences and hear the music again in the same context as I did before. I think that this is an incredibly powerful feeling… we invest our time and emotions into games and it’s no wonder that we feel nostalgic about them. Music immerses us further into the isolated universes and experiences of a story by putting it in our own hands, eyes, and ears.

SUMMER OF RAP: LOOKING BACK AT SOME OF THE ALBUMS FROM THIS SUMMER
So far, 2021 has blessed hip hop fans with some great projects this year but it has to be a great year for music, the summer albums have to be something special.

FINDING HEAVEN ON EARTH: "ALL MY DAWGS EAT"
I redefined what art meant to me- it is me and everything I am surrounded by.

IGNORE THE EAST AND THE WEST: MICHIGAN IS WHERE IT'S AT
“Honestly you just have to have fun with it. Jay-Z is always going to be the greatest of all time, but no one listen to Jay Z right now because he too serious.” - Rio Da Young OG
